De Kersenboerderij (The Cherry Farm)
The tastiest cherries in the Netherlands come from Mierlo: the Mierlose Zwarte. This cherry farm is the last full-fledged standard orchard in Mierlo, and still in top condition.
The cherry season is in June, and a visit to the farm then is a must. The deep dark brown and black cherries are delicious to eat straight from the hand and fantastic in a pancake: the old fashioned "streuf" as it is called in Geldrop-Mierlo. The cherries are very popular at harvest time, so ordering is smart.
