Boej Band from Mierlo

BOEJ, A pop/rock band founded in Mierlo that has been around for more than 30 years. Ben Huls and John Gruithuijzen discovered a similar passion for playing guitar. It was in the early 1990s when this duo managed to turn their passion into a few acoustic gigs. From the beginning, their playlist included both English and Dutch songs, partly even their own compositions. A name for the band was found by combining the first two letters of their first names, so Ben and John became ‘BoeJ’. Years later, Jorg Vennix took bass guitar, drummer Michel Kerssemakers and Erwin Kuipers as pianist to join the band. During shows BoeJ continuously promoted their own material, combined with covers of Live, U2, The scene and Van Dikhout, among others, BoeJ had also played many more Dutch covers. During the corona period, the band worked together (remotely...J) with mutual acquaintance Martin Haars on a dazzling 2½-hour Elvis show to be performed in Mierlo and Geldrop in 2022 and 2023. After this successful project, the band returned to work on new set with many 80s/90/00 covers of Dire Straights, Peter Gabriel, Green Day, Live and Foo Fighters, among others
